Pre Isaac Snook and Redfish
Report Date: August 25, 2012
Yesterday seemed to be the calm before the storm. The first feeder band from tropical storm Isaac is just starting to pass through Naples as I type. The storm is expected to be a Cat.1 hurricane by the time it passes Naples on Monday so there will be no fishing for a few days.
I caught live bait pretty quickly and we were off to a good start. The tide was just starting to fall so the bite took a while to turn on. When it did, things really heated up.
We caught some very nice snook in the south Marco area and then I moved into the Ten Thousand Islands. There we caught more snook and redfish, and trout. We also started to catch some sizable jacks. The Jacks were greatly affected by the cold water fish kill of 2010 so I am glad to see them starting to bounce back.
We are going to have to button down for a few days as the storm passes. Wish us luck. I'll see you on the water.
