Winter Fishing

Report Date: January 8, 2013

Fishing these past few weeks has remained consistent. The water temperature has remained fairly warm for this time of year. As a result, we have been catching redfish, snook, and trout with regularity.
I have been using shrimp or live bait under a popping cork to target redfish and snook. The redfish have remained the real star for the most part. We are catching small to large redfish in all their usual spots. The snook have been small to medium. These fish have been out front, in the middle, as well as the back bays.

I did a few days of fly fishing. With the right tides, the sight fishing has been excellent. Super shallow bays and coves have been holding redfish and snook consistently.
Trout fishing has been good to. I have been using tube jigs around the hard outside points and have been catching a few pompano as a welcome by catch.

I also spent some time chunking hunks of shrimp in the deeper passes and creeks and caught sheepshead, black drum, and redfish.
So fishing this past month has been excellent. Give me a call and we'll go get some.
